5 Tips to Extend Your Gaming Controller's Battery Life
Wireless controllers like the Voltrix Vortex Pro are built for long sessions, but a few habits can meaningfully extend how long you go between charges.
1. Turn off vibration when you don't need it
Haptic feedback motors are one of the biggest battery drains on a controller. If you're playing a game where rumble doesn't matter much, switching it off can add real playtime.
2. Lower the LED brightness
RGB lighting looks great but draws power continuously. Many controllers let you dim or disable it entirely from a companion app or button combo.
3. Use the auto-sleep timer
Most modern controllers power down after a few minutes of inactivity. Keep this enabled rather than manually switching the controller off and on.
4. Store it partially charged, not empty
Like most rechargeable electronics, avoid leaving your controller fully drained for long periods — it's harder on the battery than storing it at a partial charge.
5. Keep the firmware updated
Manufacturers regularly ship power-efficiency improvements in firmware updates. Check the companion app periodically for updates.
